How We Clean Artificial Turf in Austin
Clean-looking turf can still hold odor, bacteria and debris below the blades. Here is exactly how we clean, sanitize and restore artificial turf across Austin and the Hill Country, step by step.

Why turf needs professional cleaning
Central Texas heat
Summer heat speeds up odor and bakes residue into the infill.
Pet urine & bacteria
Urine passes the blades and settles into the infill and backing.
Dust, pollen & leaves
Cedar and oak pollen, limestone dust and live oak leaves work down between fibers.
Matted fibers
Foot and paw traffic flattens blades, trapping debris and dulling the look.

The Pure Turf Process
- 1
Inspect & assess
We walk the turf and note odor hot spots, drainage, seams, infill depth and pet areas.
Go deeper
Before any equipment comes off the truck, we look at how the turf is actually used. Gates, dog runs and shaded corners under live oaks behave differently from open, sunny lawn. We check for loose seams, slow-draining areas and thin infill so the rest of the visit is matched to what we find, not a generic routine.
- 2
Debris removal
Leaves, sticks, pet waste and surface debris are cleared first.
Go deeper
Clearing loose material first keeps it from being ground into the fibers by the brush. In Central Texas that often means oak leaves, cedar and oak pollen, limestone dust and twigs after a storm.
- 3
Power brooming
Fibers are lifted upright and compacted infill is loosened.
Go deeper
A power broom works against the grain to stand flattened, matted blades back up. That restores the look and feel of the turf and opens the infill layer so trapped hair, dust and organic matter can be lifted out.
- 4
Vacuum sweep
Loosened debris, hair, dust and pollen are removed from the property.
Go deeper
Brushing alone just moves dirt around. A commercial vacuum sweep collects what the broom loosened, so it leaves with us instead of settling back into the infill after the next rain.
- 5
Treat
Sanitizing on every service; our deodorizing pet-odor treatment plus sanitizing/disinfecting on Rejuvenate+ and Premium, with extra attention on hot spots.
Go deeper
Every service includes a hypochlorous acid (HOCl) sanitizer. On Rejuvenate+ and Premium we add our proprietary deodorizing pet-odor treatment and sanitizing/disinfecting. Pet and odor jobs are delivered at volume so the solution reaches the infill and backing, where urine residue actually sits. Pure Turf Care visits include pet odor treatment, sanitizing and deodorizing.
- 6
Rinse & flush
Water flushes the surface and helps treatment move down through the infill and drainage.
Go deeper
Rinsing with high water volume at turf-safe settings carries dust and pollen down and out through the drainage, and helps treatments travel to where they are needed. On turf, volume and technique matter more than raw pressure.
- 7
Liquid extraction & antimicrobial infill top-off (Premium)
Extraction pulls urine, bacteria, residue and dirty rinse water out of the turf, then we top off with fresh antimicrobial infill.
Go deeper
Premium uses extraction equipment to draw the liquid back up out of the turf, so urine, bacteria and odor-causing residue are removed from the turf system instead of soaking into the base. We then top off with fresh antimicrobial infill. We do not remove or replace your infill. Pure Turf Care visits include infill inspection and redistribution only.
- 8
Final groom & walkthrough
Fibers brushed to a uniform finish and a before/after check.
Go deeper
A final pass leaves the blades standing evenly, then we walk the turf with you or share what we found, including anything worth watching before the next visit.
The Equipment
Power broom, commercial vacuum sweep, turf-safe pressure washing, a proportioner for pet jobs, backpack sprayer and liquid extraction equipment — each chosen for what it does to the turf.
See our equipmentThe Cleaning Solutions
A hypochlorous acid (HOCl) sanitizer, a concentrated pet odor neutralizer and plenty of water — plain-English chemistry, explained.
See our solutionsHow it all works together
1
Brush
Power brooming lifts fibers and loosens what's trapped.
2
Vacuum
The sweep removes it, so we're not just pushing dirt around.
3
Treat
Solutions go on through the right delivery method to reach the infill and backing, where odor lives.
4
Rinse & dwell
Water and dwell time let the treatment work and carry residue down and out.
5
Extract
Premium pulls urine, bacteria and residue out of the turf when odor runs too deep for treatment alone, then tops off with antimicrobial infill.
Each step sets up the next. Skip the vacuum and treatment lands on debris. Skip the volume and solution never reaches the backing. That's why dog urine smell on artificial grass often comes back after a DIY spray.
